Noizend has been approached by major Australian and international energy companies to run pilot projects addressing noise at Grid Energy Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sites. Grid-scale BESS installations can reach noise levels of up to 90 dB at close range (comparable to a lawn mower), but the part of that noise that travels furthest and is hardest to control is low-frequency: the deep hum from cooling fans, inverters, and thermal management systems that standard noise mitigation struggles to attenuate and that most affects nearby residents.
This is exactly the band Noizend's technology targets. As grid-scale battery storage is deployed at pace across Australia and internationally to support renewable energy transition, noise compliance is becoming a real constraint on where and how fast BESS sites can be sited and approved, which is turning developer interest in low-frequency noise solutions from a nice-to-have into a project-critical one.
